What a busy week, so much going on it will be difficult to condense into this update.
Firstly, the DPS Steering Group met up last week and we had a fabulous meeting in terms of progress. The direction that the Steering Group Members are setting is proving to be more than useful as we pick our way through likely categories for the DPS and how best to structure the whole arrangements. In addition we have been in further discussion with those who are likely to provide the back-office functionality to make sure this fits with our needs. Also, on the same day as the DPS meeting we held one of our regular Advisory Board meetings where we reflect on recent achievements, but primarily focus on the future. It was Paula’s first Board meeting in her new capacity as LCRIG Director Government and Strategy and we are already experiencing a positive vibe from Paula being part of the team. Amongst other things she took away a task to produce an organisational structure of how LCRIG operates across its different boards and steering groups and we will be pleased to share this with you all in due course.
One thing we are all currently focused on in LCRIG is making the Innovation Festival a roaring success and we are hoping to have a Minister open the event, so watch this space for further news. The event will take place from 6-7 July at Newark Showground, has been established to ‘make the case for innovation’ and will bring together local authorities, central government, the supply chain, associations and academia. For our local authority members we have 3 free spaces per authority with overnight accommodation and food included which of course is proving very popular especially given the current constraints placed on costly events elsewhere. It will be a great opportunity for our local authorities to witness, up close, the multitude of innovations that the private sector has to offer from new surfacing materials to drainage solutions and everything in between. Because of the spaces we have available some of the exhibitors are planning ‘live’ trials so lets hope the sun is shining. If you have not already done so, local authority client, or exhibitor, make sure you book your space now to this fantastic event. I look forward to seeing you there.
