View from the top: Another busy week

Another busy week, but I’m pleased to report all the plates are still spinning. I know that Alec will be reporting on the #AsktheDft webinar held earlier this week and for those who attended you’ll know what a great success it was.

Late last week we held our first ‘reconfigured’ board meeting which covered a whole range of strategic topics from the Business Plan to the Traffic Signal Maintenance Fund and I was delighted with the input and advice I received from the board members concerning future direction. The annual ‘Strictly Highways’ conference came up and I know that many of you are waiting to hear what our plans are on this front. We have agreed a way forward and Susanne will share the details in due course.

We have also agreed a provisional date for a stage 1 and 2 assessment against the collaborative management standard ISO44001 which is a significant step in the development of LCRIG. It is hoped that this certification will prove fundamental to achieving the equivalent of level 3 status as part of the future Self-Assessment so I would like to encourage our members to get engaged with this initiative now as opposed to later.

Finally, I would like all of our members to consider how they can become more actively involved with LCRIG either by joining one of the regional boards or acting as the innovation champion for an individual authority. Remember that LCRIG is here to serve you, but it does need your input.
