Salary £19,698 – £21,748 per annum
Pay Basis – Yearly
Type – Permanent, Full Time
Hours – 37 hours per week
Location – Based at the Whalley Depot BB7 9RW (but may be required to work at various Locations throughout Lancashire)
Lancashire Highways Service is responsible for the direct delivery of all highway related schemes across the County made up of 4300 miles of road, 151,000 streetlights and 2955 bridges
This is an exciting opportunity an enthusiastic Chargehands required to be part of a team assisting with the provision of maintenance and construction of bridges & structures across the county.
This role will primarily focus on joinery and building aspects of delivering the Authority’s bridges and structures schemes. This will involve the maintenance and repair of various types of bridges and structures and other associated works connected with their upkeep. Duties will include shuttering, fabrication of timber footbridges and other joinery work as required, as well as building works including stone, brick and blockwork. Other duties will be required including concrete works and minor steel fixing. The post holder may be required to work on other aspects of highways schemes as directed
Importantly the Council also require someone who can commit to taking part in out of hours / winter maintenance for which full training will be provided.
Lancashire County Council is looking for someone with a current, full driving licence and with experience of working within the traffic or highway maintenance fields, preferably with specific experience of driving LGV vehicles and working on bridges / structures. However, funding / support will be provided in attaining an LGV licence. As this role involves working on the Highway network, they also require someone with an awareness of Health and Safety Legislation pertaining to Highways Maintenance.
