Vacancy – Carnell – Site Supervisor (Area 7, East Midlands)

 Job Title: Site Supervisor – Area 7

Location: Wakefield (or within a commutable distance)


 As the Site Supervisor you will plan, and co-ordinate works and be the main contact point for the client and/or ‘Contacts Manager’. You will take responsibility for the safety, quality and environmental elements of their work sites and the welfare of the employees therein. Therefore, you will need to work as part of a team and express excellent communication skills.

 Responsibilities – but not limited to:

 Liaise with clients and develop good business relationships

  • Ensure resource levels on site are maintained to correct levels and inform CM in a timely manner where additional resources are required
  • Have an appreciation of BOQ and identify any commercial issues to CM & QS
  • Keep CM and QS informed of any changes to works scope, programme, issues preventing works being carried out in line with tendered outputs so EWN and CE can be raised
  • Survey potential works and submit reports to the commercial department for pricing when instructed to do so by the CM
  • Plan be responsible for and co-ordinate site works in accordance with the instructions of the client and their Contracts Manager. Keep the associated Site Works Plan(s) / Project Management Plan(s) Construction phase plans up to date
  • Organise and deliver associated inductions, pre-start briefings and ongoing toolbox talks, and be able to complete and submit the associated paperwork
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with CDM 2015
  • Deliver in accordance with the programme for the site works and keep the Contracts Manager updated on progress
  • Complete all necessary documentation to allow works to start, i.e. ‘Site Specific Risk Assessment’, etc.
  • Deliver general toolbox talk training sessions and method statement briefings, and complete the associated paperwork
  • Ensure all works under their charge are carried out safely in accordance with our SHE Management system and that they do not pose a danger to the workers on site, sub-contractors, site visitors or members of the public
  • Carry out weekly site inspections and submit associated paperwork
  • Manage all sub-contractors and site visitors and ensure their safety during works
  • Check everyone working on site has the required level of competency to carry out their role
  • Ensure all works are carried out to the required specification and standard
  • Raise near misses and safety observations both positive and negative

 Qualifications / Experience

 Experienced Site Supervisor in the Highways or Civil Engineering industry

  • CSCS Supervisor Card essential
  • SSSTS or SMSTS essential
  • NRSWA Accreditation preferable
  • CPCS Training preferable


  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Professional attitude and ability to operate without supervision
  • Capable of teaching and developing operatives
  • Good commercial awareness
  • An understanding of relevant Health & Safety legislation
  • Full clean driving licence
