Role

To have a general understanding of working on high speed roads and civils works, they will need to be able to work as part of a team with good communication skills. Highways operative will need to follow instructions and comply with site rules and Carnell Health and Safety policies. We are seeking highway operatives who are driven, hardworking, flexible and most importantly reliable.

The highways operative will require CSCS, CPCS Roller & Dumper cards are preferred. Prior experience of civils work in a highway’s environment preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate will need to hold a full clean driving licence and be available to work both nights /days nationally when required.

Responsibilities – but not limited to:

  • Receiving Start of Shift Briefing
  • Kerbing / Edgings
  • Flagging / Trenching
  • Drainage all depths
  • Ducting / Cabinet sites
  • Cabling
  • Cable pulling
  • Concreting
  • Step building
  • Chamber construction
  • Earthworks
  • Excavation works
  • Carrying out underground service surveys (CAT & GENNY)
  • Road construction works

Qualifications / Experience

  • Experience in the Highways / Civils industry
  • Full clean driving licence
  • An understanding of relevant health & safety legislation
  • CSCS Operative Card essential
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • NRSWA Accreditation preferable
  • Ability to tow trailers
  • CPCS training in Excavators / Dupers / Rollers essential
