TTF Local Authority Data Digest

Dear LCRIG Member,

Each week our colleagues at the Transport Technology Forum publishes a summary of data gathered from a range of local authorities across the country, providing an overview of how public behaviour is changing as a result of Coronavirus restrictions being eased.  This helps in understanding whether travel habits are returning to normal or what new patterns are being experienced. Local Authorities can benefit by being able to compare what is happening in their areas with the national picture, allowing local and national comparisons to be drawn.

Figures gathered suggest that, up to 5th June, traffic flows on Tuesday 2nd June were the highest since the beginning of lockdown, with traffic across the week 41% of the levels seen before the Coronavirus crisis hit, up from 34% the week before.

The figures also suggest that the amount of cycling is heavily dependent on weather.  With poorer weather last week there were far fewer people out on their bikes.  However as the weeks go on we are beginning to see a distinct morning peak for cycling again.

There are also examples of best practice shared by local authorities.

If you have any requests for datasets you feel will be beneficial to you that we may be able to offer, please email the report authors at info@ttf.uk.net.  Please also use this address to share any press releases or social media links to best practice examples you have in your authority.
