Theme for Strictly Highways 2022 confirmed

The theme for this year’s Strictly Highways event is centred around ‘Making the case for local roads’.

Earlier this year the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) launched a new mission statement along with a set of overarching objectives which reflect how the group is working on behalf of the sector.

The seminar programme for this year’s event will highlight projects and initiatives that have directly led to savings for the sector and/or examples of where money has been put back in as a result of work carried out.

The programme will be split into four key focus areas – net zero, collaboration, innovation and skills – which align with LCRIG’s key activities and initiatives.

As in previous years, the programme will be developed through the combination of invited speakers and through an expression of interest process. The expression of interest programme is open to UK and international organisations thereby helping ensure the content reflects the latest insights from a broad range of expert speakers.

LCRIG Content Director Alec Peachey said: “Valued at £400 billion, the local highway network is the largest and most visible community asset for which local highway authorities are responsible. It is used daily by most people and is fundamental to the economic, social, and environmental well-being of the country.

“Earlier this year we launched our ‘Making the case for local roads’ strapline as we felt it reflects the group today, expresses our values and ticks all aspects of what we do. At LCRIG we are constantly making the case for local roads, so it makes sense that we make this our central theme at this year’s Strictly Highways.

“It is important that we represent the views of our members and ensure that their voices are heard. We constantly put a focus on highlighting the value of local roads and will continue to work hard to make change happen. Through both our own initiatives, and by highlighting the work of others, we look forward to showing how the case for local roads is being made at Strictly Highways.”
