30 March 2022 | Net Zero | Our Work
The Local Council Roads Innovation Group’s (LCRIG) webinar: ‘Practical steps on the journey to net zero: Understanding the challenge’ is now available to watch on demand.
The webinar took place last week and is the first in a series of events that will set out the breadth of the challenge faced with a focus on working towards solutions to help the sector reach net zero.
With the roads sector under increasing pressure to adapt to improving environmental standards and meet the expectations of government and society; including bringing all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 – LCRIG has teamed up with Colas and Breedon to deliver this exclusive series.
The event featured the following panellists:
Annette Pass, Head of Innovation at National Highways.
Susan Halliwell, Executive Director, Place at West Berkshire Council.
David Ogden, Operations Director at Colas.
Nick Blyth, Policy & Engagement Lead at IEMA (Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment).
Watch the webinar on demand to find out their thoughts on the following topics:
- What is net zero and why does it matter?
- The role of central Government
- What’s being done in local highways
- How can central and local government work together?
- The supply chain view
- Putting plans into action
Following the launch webinar, a series of further webinars will be delivered throughout 2022, covering carbon reduction in fleet, materials, asset management and street lighting.
