October is shaping up to be a very successful month for Miles Macadam. Shropshire Council has been awarded the Net Zero Innovation Project of the Year at the Strictly Highways 2021, DfT Special Recognition Awards, of which Miles Macadam were delivery partners. Our Carbon Neutral Surfacing Scheme in collaboration with Shropshire Council was the first Local Authority Carbon Neutral scheme in the UK. It is fantastic to see our sustainable approach to surfacing recognised within our industry, as well as the efforts of Shropshire Council and its supply chain.
Steve Smith, Assistant Director of Infrastructure at Shropshire Council stated:
“It recognises the work that we undertook earlier in the year which was the first of its kind in the country. Huge thanks to the whole of the Alliance team who showed a truly collaborative and can do approach in order to deliver this. Really pleased to have the recognition of everyone’s hard work and determination to achieve what was a challenging ambition.”
Having the ability to enable a Carbon Neutral Surfacing Scheme is such an achievement and we would like to say a huge congratulations and thanks to our MM team, Shropshire Council, WSP & Kier.
The excitement doesn’t stop there! This Carbon Neutral Scheme has also been shortlisted for the Environment Sustainability Award at the National Highways Awards. The final is taking place on the 20th October, so make sure to keep your fingers crossed for us.
