More than 150 register for net zero webinar

More than 150 people have already registered for the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) upcoming webinar: ‘Practical steps on the journey to net zero: Understanding the challenge’.

The webinar is the first in a series of events and will set out the breadth of the challenge faced with a focus on working towards solutions to help the sector reach net zero. There is still time to register with the event taking place on 22nd March at 11am.

With the roads sector under increasing pressure to adapt to improving environmental standards and meet the expectations of government and society; including bringing all greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2050 – LCRIG has teamed up with Colas and Breedon to deliver this exclusive series.

Annette Pass was appointed Head of Innovation at National Highways in November 2017. She has 20 years’ experience at the government-owned company in research management, international co-ordination and Lean, where she has driven a continuous improvement culture within National Highways and its suppliers. passionate advocate of change and improvement in the construction industry, she has a strong record in leading and delivering improvements in asset management, engineering and technical assurance.


Susan Halliwell is Executive Director, Place at West Berkshire Council overseeing place shaping functions including planning, highways, economic development, public protection and environment, creating places where people want to live and work. Sue’s current focus is on delivering the council’s zero carbon ambitions for 2030.

Sue is also 2nd Vice President of the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport representing Place Directors of County and Unitary Councils across England. She is also a non-Executive Director of Low Carbon Hub, a Community Interest Company based in Oxford delivering de-centralised community funded renewable energy, grid edge technology and energy efficiency measures. 


David Ogden joined the Colas Ltd senior team in May 2020 as Operations Director with responsibility for the regional contracting activities in highways and aviation across the UK. 

For over 20 years, he has successfully delivered divisional and national accountabilities in operational, commercial, procurement and financial disciplines within the construction, utilities and highways sectors.   

Prior to joining Colas, David was Business Director for Highways at Amey, responsible for Local Government Highways, Streetlighting, Traffic Management and Ministry of Defence businesses, and also lead the strategic development and innovation programmes for the highways division. He is also actively involved in sector wide projects as vice chair or PIARC UK and a CIHT Council Member
