London City Airport gets winter ready
London City Airport has invested in four of Multevo’s Multihog machines. They’ve been delivered with winter resilience attachments, thus ensuring they are ready to fight back and keep flying whatever the weather.
‘We are investing in the future of London City Airport, but that isn’t just about bricks and mortar, it’s about being able to provide an excellent airport experience for all of our customers. People need to get to where they are going with as little disruption as possible and we as an airport want to make that happen.’ Alex Imlach, Head of Aerodrome Operations, London City Airport.
London City Airport’s £500m development programme comprises a new terminal, eight new aircraft stands, and a parallel taxiway, with a new concrete deck built above the dock water – equivalent to the size of eleven football pitches. As an award winning airport, London City prides itself on the service it provides its ever-growing number of passengers. This year they are expecting to welcome around five million travellers, and delivering a seamless airport experience, all year round is of utmost importance to them.
‘Preparing for winter and investing in the right equipment to aid us during poor weather conditions is crucial for London City Airport, ensuring we minimise delays and keep aircraft and passengers moving. Multevo’s Multihog range fits this criteria – helping us clear snow and ice and easily manoeuvre around London City’s airfield and parked aircraft, thanks to their compact size. Utilising the Multihog equipment will help us work efficiently to uphold our passenger proposition of speed and convenience.’ Alex Imlach, Head of Aerodrome Operations, London City Airport.
Multevo, have supplied London City with four Multihog multipurpose utility vehicle with front snowplough and brush combination. Snowplough, for initial snow clearance and a snow brush for a back to black service. They have also opted for a rear mounted 1200 litre de-icing sprayer with CAN bus system, ensuring that the correct amount of liquid is distributed irrespective of driving speed. This single vehicle approach creates a time effective working practice.
The machines will be predominately used for head of stand clearance, servicing areas that bigger machines simply cannot manoeuvre, promising a faster more efficient turn around time for aircrafts and ultimately less disruption for passengers.
‘The Multihogs are working really well for us. The operators have found them straightforward to use and we hope to add to our current attachments in the future to really maximise the multi purpose quality of the machine. Multevo have been professional to deal with from start to finish and we look forward to continuing our relationship with them.’ Alex Imlach, Head of Aerodrome Operations, London City Airport.
Multevo have successfully helped airports across the country to innovate operationally through the use of specialist equipment and best practice techniques airside and landside for over a decade.
‘We know that London City Airport are forward thinking, their expansion plans confirm just how ambitious they are. Multevo are excited to play a part in creating a better more efficient experience for passengers. We are thrilled that the Multihogs are providing them with winter weather support they needed and we hope that we can add to their usefulness in the future with more attachments to keep the Multihogs busy all year round.’ Nick Carter, Director, Multevo.
