Representatives from the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG) took part in a Tarmac event entitled ‘Building Sustainability’ last month – with Chief Executive Martin Duffy and Chair of the group’s Infrastructure Innovation Board Ian Large both participating in panel discussions.
The purpose of the event was to demonstrate new approaches to procurement across the supply chain and discuss the implementation of innovative materials, processes and strategies that will drive the sector forward towards the target of Net Zero.
Martin took part in a panel debate on the subject of ‘Green Procurement’ with participants discussing the following topics: what needs to be done to prepare procurement for change and in cases where sustainability costs more, whether we are ready to pay for it and whether there are routes to funding to help?
Martin formed part of a panel consisting of:
Sanyalax Morrison
Strategic Procurement Director, National Highways
Alex Dinsdale
Commercial Policy lead, Department for Transport
Emma Hines
Tarmac, Head of Sustainability
