Innovation Festival – final programme announced!

With just one week to go until LCRIG’s Innovation Festival takes place at Newark Showground, the final programme for the event has been announced and features a wide range of speakers from across the highways community.

Here’s a sneak peek of some of the event highlights that will be taking place over the two days.

Wednesday 06 July

11:05am – Meet the Innovators

For the opening session on day one, LCRIG’s Content Director, Alec Peachey will be joined live on stage by Matthew Eglinton, Head of Local Highways Maintenance, Innovation, and Resilience, Local Infrastructure at Department for Transport.

The session will also feature some of the winner’s of last year’s ‘LCRIG Steve Berry Think Exceptional Innovation Fund’.

11:50am – Routes to innovation funding

During the second session on day one, delegates will hear from:

• Andy Graham, Owner at White Willow Consulting, Trustee at Rees Jeffreys Road Fund
• Carol Valentine, Business Technology, and Innovation Manager, Highways and Transportation, Kent County Council
• Karla Jakeman, Innovation Lead – Connected Transport Manufacturing, Materials & Mobility at Innovate UK

Thursday 07 July

09:00am – Inspiring Innovation

The opening session on day two will focus on front line staff and heads of innovation, highlighting real life examples of how they are driving innovation through their organisations. It will also focus on the benefits of engaging front line staff at the design stage.

Darren Capes, Intelligent Transport Systems Policy Lead at Department for Transport will join Alec as co-chair for the session, which will also feature the following guest speakers:

• Tom Tideswell, Head of Innovation, Kier
• Will Young, Innovation & Efficiency Manager at Essex Highways
• Rowan Morrell, Area Agent at NY Highways
• Mike Francis, Head of Operations at NY Highways

Delegates will also hear from Martin Duffy and Jason Sprague, who will provide an update on the LCRIG DPS and they will also have an opportunity to attend sessions that are being delivered by the Department for Transport (DfT) over the two days.
