Councils sign up to attend LCRIG Innovation Festival

Representatives from more than 40 local authorities have signed up to attend this year’s Innovation Festival, which is being delivered by the Local Council Roads Innovation Group (LCRIG).

The LCRIG Innovation Festival will be a first of its kind event, giving qualifying innovators the chance to receive funding to develop an innovation or facilitate a trial of their product or solution on a local authority network.

A number of local authorities have committed to making their networks available for trials and a portion of all exhibition space and sponsor sales at the festival will be put into the LCRIG / Steve Berry Innovation Fund, to be distributed to winning innovators, or to contribute to the cost of a trial, for each innovation category. More information on how to apply to be a qualifying innovator can be found here.

The event, which will take place from 6-7 July at Newark Showground, has been established to ‘make the case for innovation’ and will bring together local authorities, central government, the supply chain, associations and academia.

LCRIG Content Director Alec Peachey said: “We really will be ‘making the case for innovation’ at this year’s inaugural Innovation Festival. The fact that representatives from more than 40 councils will be in attendance shows that there is a real appetite for industry professionals to find out more about the latest innovations in the sector. There has also been huge uptake from the private sector with many companies confirming their participation as exhibitors, delegates or sponsors. There is still time to register and local authority places are fully funded. Do not miss out on this industry first event and join a growing list of supporters and partners who will be in attendance.”

Gaist, GallifordTry, JCB and WJ have been confirmed as Innovation Festival Partners with Multevo supporting the event as promotional sponsor, and Stabilised Pavements supporting the evening networking.

The Department for Transport (DfT) and Transport Technology Forum (TTF) are key supporters of the event and a number of associations will also be in attendance including; ARTSM; Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE); ITS (UK); Rees Jeffreys Roads Fund; Road Surface Treatments Association (RSTA); TOPAS.
