Job description

As part of the delivery, governance and communications for major highway projects for the County Council, the role of the Project Stakeholder and Engagement Manager is vital within the Infrastructure Delivery Team (which is part of the Highways service). The role, line managed within the County Councils Communications Team, must provide sufficient skills and expertise in managing engagement and communication with stakeholders to ensure project delivery is well planned and executed.

We are looking for the right person to provide maternity cover for this role, starting in March 2022. This includes working alongside other established Stakeholder and Engagement Managers, who will provide support and guidance. Whilst the core focus of the role is to support the delivery of major projects, the line management structure also ensures there is support from colleagues and managers within the wider Corporate Communications team.

This is a challenging role and you will join teams working on a range of large highway projects, providing direct support to each of the Project Managers and to the project team more generally. This will include developing and delivering stakeholder engagement and communication plans for each allocated project, ensuring alignment with programme deadlines, that key milestones are being achieved and that associated costs are being tracked and managed.

The Infrastructure Delivery Team has a broad range of active projects that are currently being delivered and these include the Great Yarmouth 3rd River Crossing, Norwich Western Link, Long Stratton bypass, as well as an ongoing programme of projects being delivered as part of Transport for Norwich, which includes ‘Transforming Cities’ funded projects, which would be one of the key focusses during the maternity cover – you can see some of the fantastic projects being delivered here.

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of planning and delivering in a key role as the engagement and communication lead for large projects, as well as general experience in dealing with different media organisations, including management of social media platforms.
