ABP Docks, Southampton.
Miles Macadam were appointed as the Surfacing Contractor to install Hardipave™ on a new build Certas fuel station at ABP Docks, Southampton. We have completed numerous fuel stations for Certas throughout the UK.
A typical failing associated with conventional asphalt when used in fuel stations is caused by minor diesel or oil leaks. The spillages act as a solvent which breaks down the bituminous asphalt causing the material to fail.
Hardipave™ was specified as a durable and fuel resistant Grouted Macadam surface course, designed with a strong resistance to deformation and abrasion from HGV traffic, making it an ideal material for fuelling areas.
The fuel station was completed in September 2020 for Certas Energy and measured 1,130m². The scheme was a new build and we were commissioned to install a 240mm overall construction as follows: 100mm AC32 HDM base course, 100mm AC20 HDM Binder Course and 40mm of 14mm Hardipave™ Grouted Macadam surface course. The works were completed over a 4 day period by Miles Macadam’s experienced team.
